Effective January 2018, Dr. Wei Chen takes over as the Editor-in-Chief of the ASME Journal of Mechanical Design (JMD). JMD has more than 900 annual submissions and is the top quartile journal among 130 journals in the mechanical engineering field rated by ISI.

Dr. Wei Chen is the recipient of 2018 Ver Steeg Faculty Award by the Graduate School at Northwestern University. This award recognizes one outstanding faculty member and one outstanding staff member each year for their contributions of excellence in working with graduate students of The Graduate School. As a Director of Graduate Studies, Professor Chen has made a dedicated effort to recruit a diverse and top-quality student body.
